I had the opportunity to join this forum today. It was organised by Women in Finance (WIF) and PNB. WIF comprised of a group of women, who at their own free time, started to create a platform where they can share experiences and build up each other. Their activities grew through organising talk series such as this one, and inviting women from the top management and senior management of companies to share insights and pointers to the younger generation of professionals. I think that is such a great effort and very beneficial to women in the workforce. Coz sisters gotta stick together, right!
The panelists today were Pn. Nik Amlizan – Chief Executive LTAT, Pn. Nora Manaf – Group Chief Human Capital Officer Maybank, and Pn. Hanizan Hood – SVP Fund Management PNB.
Here are some key points that I jotted down:
1. Solve problems voluntarily.
2. Passion.
3. Be action oriented.
4. Self-confidence is beautiful!
5. You need to like what you do.
6. Do a lot of homework before a meeting —> Confidence!
7. Do the BEST, whatever is given to you.
8. Leave your mark.
9. Don’t go down the spiral of mediocrity and complacency.
10. Be more generous to your peers.
11. You can’t choose what life gives you, but you can choose what you take away from it.
A great sharing session on pursuing our career, the importance of a support system, acknowledging our trade-offs and costs, and knowing why we do it.
